Important DOs and DON’Ts for home or business security:
Do NOT speak to a rep about your home without asking to see their license. Issued by the South Carolina Contractors’ Licensing Board.
Do NOT let a subcontractor install your security system. This should be a no-brainer.

DO understand the importance of Two-way Voice, and insist upon it See Industry Terminology Two-way Voice.
DO weigh heavily your monitoring company’s response time Monitronics- 22 seconds or less-industry best. Most companies will skate around this question, or say they have the fastest with no evidence. Monitronics is one of the few that posts theirs.
DO read your contract carefully Many companies have automatic renewal- where if you don’t contact them in writing at the end of your contract you will automatically be renewed for another year!
